When I was younger, my friends and I would pour a few beers, sit down and spill every detail of our sex lives. I remember being in utter shock when my college roommate shared that she had an orgasm every time she had sex! Having never had an orgasm through penetration, I wasn’t sure I believed her entirely. Our sex chat, however, offered me enough hope to open my mind and keep trying different positions to reach orgasm with my man.
Now that I’m much older, I don’t talk to my girlfriends about sex. I’m not sure why exactly — maybe it’s because we’re too busy or maybe it's because as we get older, sex becomes a more private topic. But there is still so much to learn from each other. We are constantly changing as our bodies and minds evolve and mature; we need to keep discussing our experiences to empower each other sexually. Plus, don’t we all have a touch of curiosity when it comes to what others are doing in bed? It’s time to get talking (or reading) like we did in our younger years. "As of late, my favorite sex position is spooning. I feel most relaxed in this position and it is easy on my aging joints. Too many of my tried-and-true positions from my younger years just don’t agree with my body anymore. I used to love being on top, but my knees and hips just can’t manage anymore.” — Allison, 54

The Lotus or Yab Yum position is when the male sits cross-legged and the other partner is on top with her arms and legs wrapped around him. “I love a lot of things about [the lotus position]. It's intimate. [You are] basically being held in your lover's arms; you can kiss, make eye contact if desired, talk, touch. I also appreciate that it can be mellow or more lively (providing the partners are lively! If not, it is lovely when it's mellow!) and that it is easy on my body as the receptive partner — no weight on me, no assuming positions my body doesn't want to get into.” — Carol, 67

“My favorite position is something I’ve heard called the ‘reverse slither.’ It’s where I lie flat with my back pressed up against my partner’s chest, who’s also lying flat. I love it because it gives us full-body contact from head to toe while keeping things relaxed and intimate. “My favorite position is good ‘ole missionary. I think it is underrated as boring and predictable, but for me, it covers all the bases: it is intimate, offers clitoral stimulation and is physically comfortable. I also love that my boyfriend can whisper in my ear as he often does.
