As a girl, reading her friend Maureen's Mademoiselle and her mother's New Yorker, Alice Garbarini Hurley dreamed of working in the glam New York magazine world. She was a staff writer at Woman's Day, Seventeen, Good Housekeeping, Sesame Street Parents and ASPIRE Design and Home. She has published essays in Woman's Day and Coastal Living--readers sent her dozens of emails, even invitations to their Cape Cod homes. She has reported on the best brownies, stylish sofas and, most recently, wrote for Catholic Charities NY, where her eyes were opened to real-life angels who manage food panties and family shelters. She lives in Montclair, NJ with her husband, writer Dan Hurley; their girls, Annie and Alexa; and their puffy white dog, Sugar Maureen, 16. Alice has blogged daily for 10 years at InSearchofTruthandBeauty.blogspot.com. She taught memoir writing to guests at Toni's Kitchen, the bustlng soup kitchen in her town.
